Walter Benjamin said that we are the messianic generation. John Caputo adds that this means that “We live in the space between a memory and a promise.” We cannot inhabit the past, nor predict the future. The present moment is what we have; it is where we pitch our tents; it is where we are called to be human. We live “In the Moment…”
This blog is for those who, having been trapped in the church’s continuing accretions upon the memories of the life and teachings of Yeshua*, are open to a conversation leading toward fresh understanding of their faith. Some of you are still in the church; others have joined the group that John Spong calls the church’s alumni association. As a 75 year-old retired Presbyterian minister, I resonate with you.
